Talent Show Will Be 'Huge'

Amanda Holden has promised that ITV's Britain's Got Talent will be better than ever when it returns next month.

The actress said she and the other judges - Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan - took their time when it came to picking talent for the upcoming series.

"It took us a lot longer this year and Simon spat his dummy out on several occasions but it's a better show than last year in my opinion. It took us a long time," she said.

"Last year I think it was much more an emotive show and it was highly emotional - this year I watched it with a different eye. I watched it for talent rather than the people's stories and so it took a lot longer to connect but once I did the show was up and running, and it's gonna be huge."

Britain's Got Talent returns to ITV in April.

Top Gear On The Road

Top Gear is going on the road - by being turned into a live "theatre experience".

Top Gear Live will travel across 15 countries over the next 18 months. Jeremy Clarkson, 47, is taking part, and James May, 45, and Richard Hammond, 38, are expected to join him.

BBC Worldwide said the live shows would "incorporate the drama of film and theatre with the thrills and spills of stunts and special effects".

It will visit Earls Court in London and Birmingham's NEC later this year.

Local presenters of the programme are expected to front the show abroad, with some input from their British counterparts.

Money from ticket sales will be ploughed back into BBC programming through BBC Worldwide, the corporation's commercial arm.

Adam Waddell, managing director of Top Gear, BBC Worldwide, said: "Taking Top Gear Live on tour is tremendously exciting and ties in perfectly with our plans to reach out to audiences around the globe."

ITV Executive Quits

Corinne Hollingworth, the ITV executive in charge of dramas including Emmerdale and Coronation Street, has announced her departure from the company after four years.

It is thought she will stay in her post as ITV head of continuing drama until a replacement has been found.

A statement issued by ITV said: "Corinne has played a vital role ? overseeing ITV's returnable drama series and refreshing some of ITV's biggest programme brands including Coronation Street, Emmerdale and The Bill.

"We wish her the best in whatever she does next."

Hollingworth started her TV career in 1979 working as an assistant floor manager on a BBC adaptation of the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice.

She was a production associate and producer on EastEnders, before becoming executive producer of the soap in the mid-1990s.

In 1996 she moved to Channel Five as controller of drama where she launched Family Affairs in 1997 before leaving in 2003 to join ITV.

ITV To Broadcast Formula One Online

ITV has reached a landmark deal that will see all 18 races in this season's formula one motor racing championship simulcast online via the broadcaster's broadband TV service.

It is the first time that an agreement has been reached in the UK for the internet broadcast of formula one races.

ITV will also broadcast online all Friday practice sessions, which have never been shown on TV before.

Under the deal the extra F1 coverage will commence with the practice session in Australia, the first race of the season, from 23:00 today. The agreement initially lasts for a year.

F1 races will be made available to view via ITV.com/F1 and be cross-promoted across the website and during the broadcaster's TV coverage.

Each Grand Prix will be available to view for 30 days on ITV.com's catch-up TV service after the race has finished.

Mark Sharman, ITV's director of news and sport, said: "We know from listening to our viewers that there is great demand from motor sport fans to watch F1 practice sessions and press conferences."

Award For Alan Johnston

BBC correspondent Alan Johnston was given an award by BBC World Service for his outstanding contribution to the international broadcaster last night.

The award coincided with the first anniversary of Alan's kidnap in Gaza. He spent 114 days in captivity and was released on July 4 last year.

The award was presented by Michael Palin in Central London at a ceremony to celebrate excellence, innovation and creativity in BBC World Service.

BBC World Service Director Nigel Chapman said: "Alan Johnston has worked across the range of BBC World Service output, both as an editor and a correspondent. He is a skilled all-round journalist with a talent for words; he has never shied away from the toughest assignments. His passport has stamps in it from Tashkent, Kabul and many parts of the Middle East.

"He has extraordinary personal qualities. After his release from captivity in Gaza, he was calm and focused enough to report his own story in an unforgettable way. He later wrote a memorable and beautifully crafted essay for our programme, From Our Own Correspondent. His reporting is always of the highest class."

ITV Tries To Tempt Adrian Chiles

BBC host Adrian Chiles has reportedly been offered a ?6million deal plus free flights in a bid to make him the face of ITV football.

They want him as anchor Champions League and FA Cup coverage and are willing to work round his commitment to the BBC One topical programme The One Show.

ITV has guaranteed him flights back from games anywhere in Europe so he can be in London for his BBC job the next day.

Chiles has signed up for The One Show until 2009.

The BBC are thinking of offering him a "golden handcuffs" deal to work exclusively for them but are unlikely to offer ?6m.
