Jade Goody Back In UK

Jade Goody broke down in tears as she arrived back in the UK tonight after being diagnosed with cancer.

Goody, 27, apparently learned she had cervical cancer while appearing in Bigg Boss - the Indian version of Big Brother.

The mother of two flew into London's Heathrow Airport after a seven-hour flight from Mumbai, India.

Looking tired and drained the upset Goody told airport personnel escorting her through the terminal: "I don't want any more I can't do this."

She broke down in tears as she was met by a number of photographers and left the airport through a private exit.

Just days before leaving for India and while awaiting test results, Goody spoke of her fears for her two children over her cancer.

The reality TV star revealed how she went into the Indian Big Brother house to pay the bills - knowing she could have the disease.

Doctors advised her that getting pregnant again could kill her and urged her to have a hysterectomy.

The single mother said in the interview with Reveal magazine: "I will worry for my beautiful boys if I get unwell. I live for them. I have to keep working to support my family. It's not an option to stop."

Hollyoaks Actress Depression

Actress Emma Rigby has told a magazine that playing an anorexic in Hollyoaks made her feel "tired and depressed".

The actress - who plays Hannah Ashworth in the Channel 4 soap - said she was thrilled when she first found out she would get to star in such a dramatic storyline, but it soon started to take its toll on her.

She said: "I'd been really looking forward to getting a big storyline because when I started on the show, I was still in my last year at school and was really limited with the hours I could work. So when I found out about the anorexia storyline, I couldn't wait to start.

"I got such a fright when I saw myself in the mirror after I'd been made up to look tired and drawn, and actors who weren't in scenes with me would come up to me during the day and say, 'Oh my God! You look awful.' I had so many people saying I looked awful, I started to feel really tired and depressed."

Emma - who won Best Actress at the British Soap Awards for her portrayal of the troubled teenager - also revealed she wasn't required to lose weight for the role.

She told New! magazine: "I was panicking that it wouldn't be believable and that people would say I was too fat, but the producers said, 'We don't want you to lose weight at all.' The make-up and wardrobe department really helped me out in that respect as well."

Second Channel For Sky Arts

BSkyB has announced it is to launch a second Sky Arts channel on October 20.

The channels will reflect both contemporary and classical programming and will air alongside the existing Sky Arts HD Channel.

From October, Sky Arts 1 will feature contemporary shows, such as live rock concerts, while Sky Arts 2 will showcase opera and other classical art content.

Contributors include Madness frontman Suggs, broadcaster Mariella Frostrup, and art critic Brian Sewell.

Sky Arts HD will broadcast content from both Sky Arts 1 and Sky Arts 2.

Sky entertainment managing director Sophie Turner Laing said: "This is further evidence of our commitment to invest in the content that people love and demonstrates how pay TV can meet viewers' individual needs."

Head of Planning for the channel, Adrian Zak, said: “In short, we’re offering increased choice to viewers at a time when other broadcasters are all but abandoning the arts.

“We’ll have 3 channels now, Sky Arts 1 featuring the best in the more contemporary side of the arts, for example rock music, documentaries and our exclusive commissions. Sky Arts 2 will feature the more traditional arts like opera, classical music, dance performances and the visual arts. Sky Arts HD will feature a mix of programmes from both of these channels.”

Carol Vorderman Farewell Show

It is reported today that Channel 4 is set to mark the departure of Countdown hosts Carol Vorderman and Des O'Connor with a special programme at the end of the year.

Channel 4's head of daytime, Helen Warner, is thought to be considering ideas to mark what will be the end of an era for Vorderman, who has been with the daytime quiz since it launched in 1982, and O'Connor, who replaced Des Lynam last year.

Previously recorded new episodes are due to begin airing at the end of the month with Vorderman and O'Connor expected to return to Countdown's Leeds studios in the autumn to film their final shows.

These will sustain the series until the end of the year when new presenters will take over.
