Quentin Crisp Drama
More details have been released about the forthcoming ITV
drama looking at Quentin Crisp's life in the US.
John Hurt is to reprise his acclaimed role as Quentin Crisp
for An Englishman in New York which will also star Sex in the City star
Cynthia Nixon and picks up where the 1970’s classic The Naked Civil Servant
left off.
Also joining the cast is up and coming American actor Jonathan Tucker, who
stars as Patrick Angus, the young artist who befriended the English
eccentric, Denis O’Hare as magazine editor, Phillip Steele and Swoozie
Kurtz, as Crisp’s American agent, Connie Clausen.
Laura Mackie, Director of Drama at ITV, said: “We are delighted to be making
another film about Quentin Crisp given The Naked Civil Servant was such a
landmark film for ITV. It’s a real thrill and honour to be bringing an actor
of John Hurt’s stature back to the channel to reprise such an iconic role.
This is largely down to the quality of Brian Fillis’ wonderful script, which
completely captures the extraordinary and outrageous character of Quentin
Crisp.”

Community Radio - Brooklands FM
A
new local radio news service for north-west Surrey on Saturday as part of a
co-operative venture between community radio station Brooklands FM and
Trinity Mirror local Herald & News titles.
Every Wednesday journalists from the Surrey Herald, Staines News and The
Informer will look at the top stories and how local people could be
affected, helping listeners and the papers' readers know about and perhaps
influence decisions that affect them.
The new venture is one of many new features on Brooklands FM as it launches
24-hour internet broadcasting from August 23.
With local news, views, interviews, musicians and sport, all based around
popular music, Brooklands FM claims to offer a truly local radio service for
Addlestone, Byfleet, Chertsey, Shepperton, Walton, West Byfleet, Weybridge
and surrounding towns that the bigger regional stations cannot give.
The programmes will come from a studio provided by the Cosmic Electricals
store, in Addlestone and will run until the end of the year.
A Brooklands FM spokesman said: "We're really excited about our exclusive
tie-up with the region's top local papers and feel we can complement the
service we each provide to the benefit of readers and listeners who are
often the same people.
"There are so many local matters people want to hear about and have some say
in wheelie bins, parking, speed cameras, pot-holes, policing, pub hours,
hospital cleanliness and shopping developments to name a few, and our new
partnership with the Trinity Mirror's local titles will help them do that.
"Our new 24-hour internet service following our earlier broadcasts in the
past two years is the next big step on our way towards becoming the licensed
Community Radio station on FM for this part of Surrey."
John Cull, former contributor to the BBC's Airport series
will present the Monday to Friday 09:00 to 11:00 slot.

Kerry Katona Is
Bankrupt
Former pop star and I'm A Celebrity contestant Kerry Katona
has been declared bankrupt after failing to settle a tax bill.
The former Atomic Kitten singer, 27, managed to reduce her £417,000 tax bill
to £82,000, but HM Revenue and Customs pressed ahead with the bankruptcy
petition first issued in January.
Katona, who was not at the High Court, asked for more time to come up with
the shortfall, via her representative Luke Harris.
Harris asked the registrar to put the matter back, saying funds were
available but cheques had not been cleared.
A fortnight ago Katona, who is a columnist with OK! magazine and has been
the 'face' of Iceland supermarkets for many years, was given until today to
find the sum by the registrar in a case that had been before the court four
times.
But when the funds didn't appear, Mr Registrar Nicholls agreed to make the
bankruptcy order.

I thought for a minute that the quiz "Wipeout", originally
presented by Bob Monkhouse, was coming back. I used to like that!

Celebrities Locked Up
Celebrities have put themselves behind bars in the latest
reality TV show for the autumn.
Linford Christie, Jack Osbourne and Donal MacIntyre
experienced life as inmates in one of the "world's harshest prisons" for the
new Virgin 1 series.
The show, entitled Prisoner: X, also features Joe Pasquale, Marc Bannerman, actor Will Mellor, author
Toby Young and former Coronation Street actress Debra Stephenson.
Britain's former Olympic 100 metres gold champion Christie spent time in
Belize's Central Prison.
Investigative journalist MacIntyre experienced life in a grim, sparse cell normally reserved for
those facing the death penalty in Louisiana State Penitentiary.
Sharon Osbourne's 22-year-old son was extracted from his cell and strip
searched in Shelby County Jail, Memphis, while Young, the British author of
How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, requested a stab vest in Westville
Prison, South Africa, after fearing for his own life.
Bannerman was locked up in Germany, and Stephenson in the US - but none of the celebrities endure life in a British jail.
Daniela Neumann, Virgin1's director of programming, said: "For the first
time ever we will genuinely see these celebrities eat, sleep and shower in
the most disgusting prisons in the world."

Film For Sky1
The
intimate video diaries of a heroin addict in the months leading up to his
death are to be shown as part of an hour-long documentary to be shown on Sky

entered rehab.
Rogers died of a brain haemorrhage the day after he admitted himself to
hospital.
Access to the video diaries were given by his mother Anne Rogers who said:
"It's all very painful to watch but I'm willing to go through it time and
again if it can help stop the same happening to other youngsters.
Andrew O'Connell, Sky 1 commissioning editor of factual, said: "Ben and
Anne's bravery in documenting this tragic period will undoubtedly make for
one of the year's most powerful films."
