Speight Of The
Art Foundation
The father of children's television presenter Mark Speight
has established an art foundation in memory of his son who killed himself in
April.
The Speight of the Art Foundation was launched by Oliver Speight and will
promote the artistic talents of children across the UK.
Mr Speight's body was found hanged in a remote area of Paddington railway
station in central London on 13 April.
He was said to have been "devastated" by the death of his fiancee in
January.
Mark, 42, presented BBC children's show SMart for 10 years.
The Speight of the Art Foundation will encourage young people to develop
skills in all forms of art, including portraiture, graffiti, fashion, design
and sculptures.
Mr Speight said: "I believe this Foundation will become a channel for
children to express themselves in a positive way through art.
"This charity will reach children across the UK who will discover their own
hidden talents. This will be Mark's legacy to each and every one of them."
The Foundation was launched at an official meeting at the 20th Century
Theatre in London's Notting Hill.
Children from two London schools, Wormholt Park Primary School in Shepherds
Bush and Gunnersbury School in Brentford, west London, shared their works of
art at its launch.
The Foundation plans to run regional competitions across the UK. The winners
will then compete in a national competition to identify a "Young Artist of
the Year".

EastEnders -
John Bardon Returns
June Brown has revealed in a radio interview that John
Bardon will be returning to EastEnders at Christmas.
Brown, who plays Dot Branning in the BBC One soap, confirmed that Bardon,
who plays her screen husband Jim, will appear in the Christmas Day show.
The actor, who was forced to take time off from EastEnders after suffering a
stroke, briefly returned to the soap in August, in an episode that was
watched by 8.5 million viewers.
Brown told Lanarkshire FM: "[John] came back not long ago and he's done two
episodes so far, his birthday episode which has come out [already] and
another one, which is Christmas Day. I don't know if I should say that but
it's not really that secret, is it?
"We've tried to make it more jolly, not so bloomin' dreary," she said,
adding, "We have a bit of a laugh and I think it'll be nice."
Dot is also set to have her son Nick (John Altman) back in her life.
Brown revealed Altman was "coming back, and because he's doing a pantomime,
which was already booked, he has to go off for a couple of months and then
he comes back again".
She added: "I'm so pleased because I've been fighting to get him back for at
least five years and I've finally succeeded."

No
Language Curb For Oliver and Ramsay
Channel 4 chief James Bellamy said today he would not "rein
in" celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver over their use of the F
word.
Bellamy said the channel had struck the right balance over the use of
"fruity language".
Speaking at the launch of Channel 4's winter season of programmes, Bellamy
said: "You always have to strike a careful balance to allow people to
express themselves naturally but without doing it in a gratuitous way.
"I think most people see we get that balance right with Jamie and Gordon.
"I understand why people feel strongly about it, but when both of them use
fruity language it's a real and authentic expression of how they feel at the
time."
Bellamy also gave his views on the furore over obscene messages left by
Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand on the phone of actor Andrew Sachs.
"You must not let occasional misjudgments tip us into a new era of cultural
conservatism and censorship," he said. "I hope it doesn't lead to a
collective loss of confidence.
"I am concerned about the issue because it underscores the value of Channel
4, which is a champion for pushing the boundaries."
Bellamy's comments came after ITV chief Michael Grade called for less
swearing on television and was backed by Culture Secretary Andy Burnham.

Channel 4
Quiz For Chris Moyles
Chris Moyles is to host a new celebrity quiz show for Channel
4.
Chris Moyles' Quiz Night, in which the Radio 1 breakfast show host will put
his own possessions up as prizes, is his first TV show since Live with Chris
Moyles on Channel Five six years ago.
The Channel 4 head of entertainment, Andrew Newman, said: "Chris Moyles must
be the biggest star in Britain without his own TV show and we're very
pleased he has decided to change that by doing his own show on Channel 4."
Moyles said: "I'm very excited to be signing for Channel 4 … especially as
no one else offered me any work."
Moyles' eight-part series will be included in Channel 4's winter 2009 season
of programming announced today.
Channel 4's lineup for the early months of next year includes Peter Kay's
Britain's Got an Extra Pop Factor and Then Some, a follow-up to the comic's
hugely popular talent show spoof, Britain's Got the Pop Factor and Possibly
a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice.
New comedy series for early next year include Free Agents, from the team
behind Spaced and Black Books, starring Stephen Mangan and Sharon Horgan as
two showbiz agents failing miserably to fall in love; and Plus One, about
bachelor Rob Black trying to restore his pride after his girlfriend leaves
him for Duncan James from Blue.
Channel 4's major new drama is Red Riding, three feature-length films based
on the crime novels by David Peace and starring Sean Bean, Paddy Considine,
David Morrissey, Maxine Peake and Andrew Garfield.
Two-part drama 1066 tells the story of the Norman conquest from the
viewpoint of ordinary villagers caught up in the invasion.
Other documentaries include Life and Death at 18, about the National Health
Service; The Hunt for Britain's Sex Traffickers; and The Great Sperm Race.
Celebrity Big Brother also returns after it was dropped from the schedule
this year after the previous year's race row.
Chefs Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will also
star in a new season of food programmes, The Great British Food Fight, a
follow-up to January's Big Food Fight.
They are joined by another celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal, who will try
to resurrect the fortunes of motorway service station chain, Little Chef.

I'm A
Celebrity - Contestants Announced
George Takei - Star Trek's Mr Sulu - and former tennis star
Martina Navratilova are among contestants in this year's I'm A
Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
They will be joined in theITV1 show by MP Robert Kilroy-Silk and TV
presenter Esther Rantzen, as well as ex-EastEnder Joe Swash.
Others include ex-Blue singer Simon Webbe, TV presenter Dani Behr and former
police chief Brian Paddick.
The show, which is based in the New South Wales rainforest, is
fronted by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly and starts on Sunday.
The line-up is completed by models Nicola McLean and Carly Zucker.
Navratilova, 52, said she "was flying very blind" having never seen the show
before.
Simon Webbe follows in the footsteps of ex-Blue bandmate Antony Costa
"So I'm sort of going in on trusting in my ability to adjust - as Billie
Jean King says, 'champions adjust'. So we'll see if I can adjust."
The Czechoslovakian-born star, now a US citizen, said her "biggest worry"
would be contact with snakes and spiders.
Takei, who married long-term partner and business manager Brad Altman in
September, is also new to the I'm A Celebrity concept.
The 71-year-old said he had eaten live fish - a Japanese delicacy - and
hoped this would stand him in good stead for the bushtucker trials.
"I've even had live fish that's had a bamboo spit driven through its gill
attached to a radish and a bamboo spit through its tail so that it can't
flop around," he said.
"You can't get fish any fresher than that."
Executive producer Richard Cowles hailed this year's "magnificent cast of
celebrities".
"But their trip to the jungle promises to be anything but a walk in the
park," he added.
"Each year, in a bid to test the celebrities, we develop new ways of pushing
the boundaries and this series will push them further than ever before.
"We have bundles of surprises up our sleeves and some of the most gruelling
bushtucker trials ever seen."
