John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd are
returning with a new adventure in Torchwood – Children Of Earth, a five-part
series for BBC One.
The threesome return as Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper
and Ianto Jones.
An ordinary day becomes a world of terror, as every single child in the
world stops. A message is sent to all the governments of Earth: "We are
coming".
But as a trap closes around Captain Jack, sins of the past
are returning, as long-forgotten events from 1965 threaten to reveal an
awful truth.
Due to the popularity of the series, Torchwood has made a swift move from
BBC Three to BBC Two, with the new instalment, Torchwood – Children Of
Earth, finding itself on BBC One.
The new series is one story told over five episodes.

ITV Scraps Primeval
Saturday night sci-fi drama Primeval has been axed by ITV.
The programme, which starred Ben Miller, Douglas Henshall, Andrew-Lee Potts
and former S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt, followed a group of scientists
studying prehistoric and fantasy creatures.
The third series launched in April with 5.3 million viewers and scored an
average audience of 4.41 million until it finished last weekend.
An ITV spokesman said of the channel's decision not to commission a fourth
series: "After three very successful series of Primeval there are no plans
at the present time for it to return to ITV. High quality drama remains a
key part of the ITV schedule although our current focus is on post-watershed
productions."

Typical of TV companies, leave a massive cliffhanger and
drop it. You mean they can't even give us a tie-up episode ?

What a shame! One kids series which was really worth
watching.
.................................................................................................................
I much preferred series 1 when Hannah was mostly in her
skimpies due to having the heating up for her pet. She looked a right sight
in later series with leggings and a boy's haircut.

Typical ITV. Something half decent comes along and they
axe it. More rubbish with Ant and Dec instead no doubt.

Primeval was a pile of rubbish, characters had no
substance and the pantomime villain Helen was nothing short of a joke. I for
one am glad ITV have axed it.
Of course there are far more important things in the world
to worry about like people losing their jobs and having their hours cut,
(just a thought.)

Jonathan
Ross Broadcasting Honour
Jonathan Ross is to be presented with a Music Industry
Trusts’ award, it was announced today.
The controversial radio and TV host will receive the gong at an event in
November “in recognition of services to music broadcasting”.
More than 1,000 guests will attend the annual charity dinner in aid of
Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and the Brit Trust.
Organisers said Ross has been a steadfast supporter of the UK music industry
since his Channel 4 TV debut in 1987 with The Last Resort with Jonathan
Ross.
BBC One's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and his BBC Radio 2 show have
provided “hugely influential” exposure for new artists, as well as being a
key target for established musicians from both the UK and abroad, they said.
Ross said: “This is an incredible honour from an industry that I have always
loved music has always played a large part in my life and it’s been a
privilege to not only present most of my musical heroes but to give a leg up
to the next generation.”
Ross, who was involved in the scandal over prank calls to Andrew Sachs along
with Russell Brand, joins a select group of Music Industry Trusts’
honourees, including Michael Parkinson.
The award is in its 18th year.

There just seems to be something really ironic about the
word 'Trust' in there...

EastEnders -
Trouble In Store
Lee Ross
and Kate Williams are set
to rock the Fox family when they return to Albert Square in
EastEnders on
BBC One.
Lee Ross will be reprising his role as Libby's
estranged father, Owen Turner.
Kate Williams also returns playing Liz Turner,
Owen's larger-than-life mother who has been living in Spain for a
number of years.
With Owen's release imminent, he convinces Liz
that she needs to settle in Walford so that he can re-establish his
relationship with Libby and Denise.
The troublesome mother and son duo will return to
Walford during the summer.
Diederick Santer,
EastEnders Executive Producer, said: "It's very exciting to have
Kate and Lee back in the show. Lee's one of the finest actors of his
generation, and the scenes he did with Belinda Owusu and Diane
Parish three years ago were electrifying.
"I'm looking forward to more! Kate's brief
appearances were equally memorable – she's a brilliant comic and
dramatic actress, and I'm keen to find out more about the unusual
Liz Turner."

Digital Britain
The Digital Britain report, due to be published tomorrow, is
expected to take the £130m digital switchover surplus from the BBC and use
it to fund services by other broadcasters.
It is widely though the white paper will propose that up to £100m of the
anticipated surplus is used fund regional news programming on ITV, and that
a further sum will be ploughed into children’s programming on ITV and
possibly Channel 4.
The change would end the BBC’s 87-year monopoly on the licence fee - but
would not necessarily eat into its core funding, as has been suggested in
many reports. Instead it would reallocate the digital switchover surplus,
estimated at around £130m.

after she finished second in the reality TV contest.
She recovered and left the facility on 04 June.
And officials for Britain's Got Talent - The Live Tour 2009 have stepped in
to calm fears she is on the verge of another breakdown, after the singer
pulled out of last night'snight's performance in Manchester.
Representatives for the tour insist Boyle will be back on her feet for
tonight's date in her native Scotland.
