New ITV1 Pranks Show
Celebrities take time out from fame to play tricks on
their fans and famous friends by donning disguises in a new ITV1
show.
In Anonymous, presented by Stephen Mulhern, three
celebrities will wear prosthetic disguises to carry out gags on
unsuspecting members of the public.
Their new ‘characters’ will then perform an
elaborate prank on one of their celebrity friends.
The one-off special, made by Tiger Aspect
Productions, will see celebrities acting as they have never done so
before.
A sporting legend transforms into a well to do
theatre luvvie to stitch up his England team mate; a soap star goes
on set of the drama she works on disguised as an Essex WAG to fool
her cast mates; and a music mogul and talent show judge ages 20
years to fool his music acts.
Stephen Mulhern will take them through the
transformation process and help them create their new identity in
the one hour show. He will also guide them through the mischievous
pranks every step of the way with the help of an earpiece and a
microphone.
John Kaye Cooper, controller of entertainment for
ITV, said: “It’s fascinating to see how some of our best known
celebrities are rendered unrecognisable by their disguises and just
how they are treated when they are anonymous.
“Fame counts for nothing if nobody knows who you
are and this show provides great comedy moments and an insight into
the lives of some of TV’s most famous faces.”

I trust this will include R1 DJs making abusive 'phone
calls to fast food outlets.
I don't like prank 'phone calls at the best of times, but when I heard one
of them shouting "Listen mate, I'm bloody Jo Wiley. I'm a star" to the poor
woman in a take-away whose only crime was to answer the 'phone and tell her
no, she couldn't have any freebies delivered to the studio, I thought that
was way over the top for 5 in the afternoon.

Alan Sugar
Keeps Apprentice Role
Sir Alan Sugar will continue to front BBC One's The
Apprentice, despite concerns over his new role working for the government as
an "enterprise tsar".
"Following detailed discussions, the BBC is satisfied that I will not be
doing anything to affect its commitment to impartiality," said Sir Alan.
Shadow Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt had called Sir Alan's role "totally
incompatible" with BBC rules.
But the BBC said Sir Alan would not be making or endorsing government
policy.
The corporation also stressed that the Sir Alan would refrain from all
public activity in his governmental role while promoting and presenting The
Apprentice.
But Mr Hunt called today's statement "an outrageous piece of media
management by the BBC".
"Slipping this letter out when the media is focused on MPs' expenses is
simply staggering," said Mr Hunt, adding that the BBC director-general's
justifications for retaining Sir Alan were "riddled with inconsistencies".
A full statement issued by the corporation read: "The BBC is satisfied that
[Sir Alan's] new role as an Enterprise Champion to the government will not
compromise the BBC's impartiality or his ability to present The Apprentice."
"Sir Alan is not going to be making policy for the government, nor does he
have a duty to endorse government policy.
"Moreover, Sir Alan has agreed that he will suspend all
public facing activity relating to this unpaid post in the lead up to and
during any shows that he is presenting on the BBC."

"The show, which... sees shiny lycra-clad celebrities",
It's the lycra suits that annoy me. They look ghastly. The celebs should
do it in their day clothes.
I'd definitely queue up to see that.

Simon Cowell -
X Factor Flops
Simon Cowell has hit back at X Factor flops who accuse him of
ruining their lives and not doing enough to make them stars.
The pop mogul has come under fire from the likes of Steve
Brookstein and Niki Evans, who have both failed to hit the big time after
appearing on the ITV show.
But 49-year-old Cowell pointed to former winner Leona Lewis, who has gone on
to become a global star since her X Factor triumph.
"What Leona has done is that she made the most out of her opportunity," he
said.
"Other people, it doesn't work out, they blame us for wrecking their lives.
No, we didn't. We just said, 'Welcome on the talent show, we'll put you in
front of millions of people. Good luck to you'."

It never ceases to amaze me how many people who go onto
this show don't seem to realise just how the odds are stacked against them,
or that Simon Cowell is the only person guaranteed not to lose out on it.
