Setanta Goes
Into Administration
Irish broadcaster Setanta Sports has gone into administration
after failing to make a number of payments to sporting organisations.
The administrator Deloitte said that it would shortly cease broadcasting to
customers in Great Britain at 18:00 today but would continue to operate
elsewhere.
They said they would immediately stop collecting subscription payments.
About 200 employees involved with the British operations will be made
redundant, the company said.
Setanta had a total of 420 employees in the UK and Ireland.
Sir Robin Miller, chairman of Setanta, said: "This is a sad day for all
concerned.
"Unfortunately, in a difficult and highly competitive market, and despite
strenuous efforts by the board and management, it has not been possible to
find sufficient additional funds in the time available to ensure its
survival."
Setanta will continue to broadcast in Ireland.
Setanta International and Setanta Ireland have not entered administration.

Television presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle has decided he
wants to become a Hollywood star.
The 35-year-old told a magazine it has always been his dream to become an
actor.
"I went to school with actress Emilia Fox, and she wrote in my leaving book
'See you in Hollywood!' so I've got a date to keep," he told Closer
magazine.
He continued: "I've just filmed a bit-part in Hotel Babylon with Tamsin
Outhwaite - she was lovely to work with. My ultimate leading lady would be
Cameron Diaz."

Mock The Week
Dara O'Brien returns to BBC Two this summer with a seventh
series of the topical panel show Mock The Week.
Returning on Thursday, July 9, O'Brien and the other popular regulars
Frankie Boyle, Russell Howard and Andy Parsons will be joined as ever by
Outnumbered star Hugh Dennis.
Mock The Week has, over the years, proved an extremely effective career
springboard for the likes of Michael McIntyre, David Mitchell, John Oliver,
Stewart Francis, Mark Watson, Lucy Porter and Rhod Gilbert as well as a
platform for established names such as Ed Byrne, Gina Yashere, Greg Proops
and Fred MacAulay to flex their topical muscles.
Mock The Week was created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson,
the creative force behind the iconic improvisation based show Whose Line Is
It Anyway? which ran for ten years on British TV before successfully
transferring to the United States.
