Havers In Coronation Street
Nigel Havers is to appear in
Coronation Street as a gentleman escort.
The smooth actor will first grace screens when he accompanies Claudia,
played by Rula Lenska in a one-off appearance, to a pre-Christmas ball.
Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), who is annoyed to be taking Norris Cole
(Malcolm Hebden) as her guest, will feel even more frustrated when she sees
that her old pal Claudia has the charming Lewis on her arm.
Learning that Claudia paid for Lewis's services, an intrigued Audrey decides
to book him for the next event she attends.
But things start to get out of hand when Audrey becomes attracted to her
charismatic companion.
A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: "There is no suggestion that Lewis is
anything more than a companion escort for his clients."
Havers will first appear on screen on December 18, and will continue in the
role in the new year.

Paul O'Grady To
Sign TV Deal
Paul O’Grady is set to return to ITV in a £8m deal, according
to reports today.
The chat show host – who said in 2006 that he would “rather sweep the
streets” than work with the channel again – is reportedly set to sign the
lucrative two-year contract today.
According to the reports, the move will see O’Grady get a prime-time Friday
night slot and go head to head with the BBC's Friday Night With Jonathan
Ross..
His present daytime show on Channel 4 is said to be facing
the axe after the channel announced budget cuts of up to 60%.
O’Grady, 54, previously said: “Channel 4 are a great bunch of people to work
with and the crew are lovely. Working at ITV was like the court of
Caligula.”
After O’Grady launched an attack on former executives at ITV - many of whom
have now left the channel - in 2006, he was banned from the ITV studios.
In retaliation, O’Grady declared: “I’m not going to work for these petty
tyrants anymore.”

Star Trek
Actor Makes TV History
Star Trek actor George Takei and his partner Brad Altman have
boldly gone where no gay couple has gone before … the long-running US TV
show The Newlywed Game.
George and Brad were the first same-sex couple to appear in
the show’s 43-year history on Tuesday night.
During the show George also revealed he cannot get out of bed
until he is given a green tea and a newspaper by Brad.
The 72-year-old Heroes actor, who married his partner last
September, told presenter Carnie Wilson: “I wait for my green tea and
morning paper in bed every day.”
He also said they would rather settle down watching the
Survivor show over old 1960s episodes of Star Trek, because they’d “watched
enough of that already”.
George and Brad won a special celebrity edition of the show
and a $10,000 donation to the Japanese American National Museum.
The Newlywed Game traditionally pits newly married couples
against each other to see how much they do – or don’t – know about
themselves as a couple.
