New Show For Wogan

Broadcasting live from the 350-seat Radio Theatre in BBC Broadcasting House, London, Sir Terry Wogan will host a live two hour show featuring live musical performance and guests from 11:00 to 13:00 on Radio 2.

Sir Terry's show will be broadcast in three blocks of 12 shows from Sunday February 7.

This follows the presenter's departure from Wake Up To Wogan after a total of 27 years hosting the programme.

Sir Terry said:: "It'll make a change to have my Sunday lunch interrupted rather than my breakfast!"

Bob Shennan, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, said: "I am so pleased that Terry is not only staying on Radio 2, but launching such an exciting and ambitious new programme."

When Sir Terry is not on air, Michael Ball's Sunday show will transmit in four blocks of four programmes from January 10.

New Five-Part BBC One Drama

Tamzin Outhwaite is to star in a new five-part drama for BBC One, called Paradox.

Outhwaite plays Detective Inspector Rebecca Flint, who is thrown together with Space Scientist Dr Christian King' played by Emun Elliott, when a series of rogue images are transmitted from space into his laboratory. The fragmented images appear to be of a major incident but, shockingly, they also suggest it is yet to happen – it is in the future.

Created and written by Lizzie Mickery , Paradox is directed by Bafta award-winning Simon Cellan Jones and Omah Madha.

Paul O'Grady Inspired By Stephen Gately

Paul O'Grady has revealed how the sudden death of Boyzone's Stephen Gately spurred on his return to ITV.

The chat show host has signed an £8 million deal to bring his chat show back to the channel next year in an evening slot to rival BBC One's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

O'Grady said in the Daily Mirror: "I'd known Stephen for years, it's shocking that a young man of 33 with so much to live for should die like that... I made a decision: now is the time to move on, have a different kind of life, give myself some time to enjoy what I've got - a chance Stephen never had.

"God, he never even got a chance to say goodbye to people he loved. He had no warning, unlike me. I've had two heart attacks and yet here I am running around like a lunatic making five shows a week.

"Stephen dying like that has haunted me."

The 54-year-old, who said when he left ITV for Channel 4 in 2005 he would rather sweep streets thank work for ITV again', said: "I'm aware there will be accusations of hypocrisy, but I've always made it clear I was referring to certain people in the old hierarchy - not the company as a whole."

He added: "I'm not being paid the silly money. Those days of big bucks are gone. End of. But programmes do cost a lot to make. So can I make it clear an £8 million deal doesn't mean that's my money - it's the total cost of making a show over two years."

New EastEnders Character

Ramon Tikaram will arrive in Albert Square later this year playing Qadim (Mohammed Qadim Shah) father of Amira Shah.

During her formative years Qadim was a doting father to Amira, spoiling her, indulging her and creating the princess she is today. They were a happy family until the day Amira's mother (Shahana) died of cancer, a trauma which turned a once handsome, loving, magnanimous man into a bitter, controlling tyrant.

Since that day Amira and Qadim have suffered a fractured relationship and Qadim's ruthless business sense and arrogance have led to his downfall, not to mention a spell at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Despite being an intelligent and dynamic man it seems his glittering empire of rental apartments was supported by dodgy bank loans and fraudulent investment schemes, much to the embarrassment of his proud daughter.

Qadim oozes charm and sex appeal and under all his grandeur there's a man with a huge capacity to love if they can penetrate his icy facade. The question is will Amira warm her father's cold heart and will his intention to share her big day throw a spanner in the works?

Qadim first appears on screen later this year when Amira visits him in prison and later again when he's released in time for his daughter's wedding to Syed.

Hairy Biker Injured

Filming of a BBC Christmas show featuring the Hairy Bikers was halted after one of the two roving chefs was injured in an accident on Tyneside.

Simon King, from Newcastle, was thrown off his bike yesterday as he rode through the city during rush hour followed by his TV partner Dave Myers.

King, 42, was taken to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment to a knee injury and is recovering at home.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said no-one else was hurt in the incident.

Gill Tierney, executive producer of BBC Programmes, said: "Filming will be rescheduled.

"We don't know when he will be ready to work again. When he has recovered we will start filming again. We hope to do that as soon as possible in a few days or so.

"We don't expect this to affect the transmission date, though the channel reserves the right to change its broadcast schedule."

The two chefs were heading for a location shoot for a festive series inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas song.

The programme was due to be broadcast some time in early December.
