Cole Hits Out A Cowell

Cheryl Cole has hit out at Simon Cowell calling him “rude” and “nasty”.

The Girls Aloud singer has revealed tensions between The X Factor judges are at an all-time high now with the music mogul becoming ever more competitive with his fellow panellists.

Cheryl told the BBC: "He starts getting annoying and saying nasty things. It gets quite heated backstage, and quite competitive. I don't feel like I'm a competitive person. I feel like the best person should win ‘X Factor’, whether they're in my category or not.

“But he's so competitive and so rude sometimes that I find myself getting caught up in it.”

When it was jokingly suggested Cheryl should hit the outspoken judge, she agreed, adding: “I should do, shouldn’t I!”

Reader Comment

I guess this simply confirms that it doesn't really matter who wins.  Best or not, Cowell still gets his number one hit and anything after that is a bonus..

What bothers me is this 'mentoring' business.  Surely anyone who actually has the X-factor wouldn't need mentoring?

Come to think of it, they probably wouldn't need to go on the show anyway...

Barbara Windsor, who plays Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders, is to quit the BBC One soap next year.

The 72-year-old actress has played the Albert Square matriarch since 1994.

"I'll be so sad to leave Peggy behind. EastEnders has been wonderful to me and it's no secret that it changed my life all of those years ago," she said.

She said that Peggy has been a "wonderful character to play", and singled out showing the Queen around the set of EastEnders as "something that will stay with me forever".

"I'm looking forward to the future and I suppose when all's said and done, I should spend a bit more time with my old man, as he's not getting any younger."

EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer said: "Barbara has contributed so much to EastEnders over the last 15 years, plus countless episodes, and countless amazing storylines.

"She has made the Mitchells the premiere family of British soap," he added.

"I so much enjoy working with her - catching up with the gossip, listening to her stories, talking about the show, benefiting from her advice, and most importantly revelling in her powerful, funny, passionate performances.

"All of us at EastEnders - and our audience - are going to miss her hugely."

John Yorke, controller BBC drama production & new aalent, said: "To most of the British public Barbara IS EastEnders, and it's almost impossible to imagine Albert Square without her. For 15 years she's given her heart and soul to EastEnders – she's been a consummate professional, a national treasure and a joy to work alongside. We will all miss her hugely – both as a character, and as a friend."
