EastEnders - New Executive Producer
Bryan Kirkwood will succeed Diederick Santer as EastEnders
Executive Producer following his decision to step down from the role in
February 2010, it was announced today.
He will take over from Santer after EastEnders celebrates its 25th
anniversary next year.
Kirkwood comes to EastEnders having spent three years producing Hollyoaks,
during which time the show enjoyed awards success and soaring popularity.
Since moving on at the end of 2008 Kirkwood has been producing its sister
show Hollyoaks Later.
Prior to his time at Lime Television, Kirkwood spent 10 years working on
Coronation Street as a storyliner, where he developed a love and talent for
storytelling and characterisation.
Kirkwood said today of his appointment: "I'm a huge soap fan so for me to be
the new Executive Producer of EastEnders is a dream come true.
"Diederick Santer has done an amazing job and I'll be taking over a show at
the top of its game – quite a daunting task but one I can't wait to get
started on."
Diederick Santer has been EastEnders Executive Producer since October 2006
and he also sits on the board of BBC Drama Production.

Celebrates The Carpenters
Forty years since the release of the Carpenters debut LP, ITV1
will celebrate the sounds and successes of the duo with some of the pop stars of today.
The hour-long programme - Celebrating The Carpenters - is
broadcast on Wednesday, November 18.
Hosted by Amanda Holden and Ronan Keating and made in collaboration with
Richard Carpenter, Celebrating the Carpenters, sees the following artists
take to the stage to perform their own unique versions of some of the
Carpenters best loved songs :
Chrissie Hynde performing Superstar.
Dionne Warwick performing Close to You.
The Feeling performing Solitaire.
Beverley Knight performing We’ve Only Just Begun.
Noisettes performing Goodbye To Love.
Ronan Keating performing I Won’t Last a Day Without You.
The Saturdays performing Please, Mr Postman.
And, exclusively for the show, Jamie Cullum and Kimberley Walsh will perform
a duet of Rainy Days and Mondays.
Amanda Holden said: “An evening of Carpenters music is my idea of heaven.
I’ve been a fan of theirs for as long as I can remember and to hear some of
my favourite current bands perform their greatest hits was amazing.”
Ronan Keating added: “The Carpenters are one of the greatest acts in musical
history and every time one of their records comes on the radio, it’s a
magical experience. Being part of a show that moves the legacy of this great
band forward is a great honour.”

Who: The Water Of Mars

Doctor Who will return to BBC One on Sunday November 15 for
The Waters of Mars - the second of four specials airing throughout 2009.
Starring David Tennant as The Doctor and guest starring actress Lindsay
Duncan – best known for her roles across stage and screen (Margaret, Lost in
Austen) – The Waters Of Mars is set to be one of the most terrifying
episodes of the series to date.
Lindsay Duncan stars as Adelaide – the Doctor's most strong-minded companion
yet.
She and The Doctor face terror on the Red Planet as they battle against a
mysterious alien living within the terrarium of life on Mars' surface which
infects its victims using a water compound it creates.
Neighbours, Flying Doctors and Casualty star Peter O'Brien also guest stars
as Ed, Adelaide's second-in-command at the base.
The Waters Of Mars is the second of four specials which will air throughout
2009.
The Waters Of Mars is written by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford and is
directed by Graeme Harper. The producer is Nikki Wilson.
