Ant and Dec ITV
Deal
Ant and Dec have signed a new, exclusive two-year deal with
ITV, thought to be worth around £10 million each to the presenters.
The Geordie pair have been working on a family challenge game
show with the working title Push The Button, which will air on ITV1 next
year.
ITV declined to comment on reports the new contract is worth around £10
million each to the pair, who are thought to be taking a 10% pay cut.
The deal takes Ant and Dec's relationship with ITV through to December 2011.
Ant said: "We are delighted to sign with ITV for another two years to
continue to make the programmes we love like Saturday Night Takeaway,
Britain's Got Talent and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! - there is no
better home for our shows."
Dec added: "We're particularly excited about the new media opportunities,
which will allow us to make fresh and exciting content for online, and also
launching our brand new entertainment show Push The Button in 2010."
The pair have just arrived in Australia for a new series of
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Peter Fincham, ITV director of television, channels and online, said: "Ant
and Dec are without question two of the UK's most talented television stars
who have helped make ITV the home of entertainment. They have a unique
appeal and a very special quality which means that they are loved by young
and old alike. After more than a decade on ITV, I'm delighted that they will
continue to exclusively work with us on our hit shows and in developing new
programmes and formats."

Good to see that ITV's not that close to bankrupcy then...
£5,000,000 a year each. Someone remind me, how much does the prime
misnister get? Honestly, is there anyone out there who seriously believes
that Ant & Dec are worth more than the man charged with running the entire
country?
It's asinine.

Ross Kemp
In The Middle East
Sky1 HD today announced details of Ross Kemp In The Middle
East, a two-part documentary looking into the political situation in Israel
and Gaza.
Following the success of his BAFTA-nominated report on the violence
following Kenya’s disputed election, Kemp travels to Israel and Gaza to
explore a conflict which defines our world yet remains largely
misunderstood. With unprecedented access to all sides, the two-part series
will offer incredible insight into life under military occupation and living
under the threat of terrorist attack.
Beginning his journey in Gaza, Kemp meets the men behind the violence, and
the communities caught in the crossfire. In episode two, Ross travels to
Israel and discovers a country surrounded by enemies and living under the
constant fear of attack from terrorist groups dedicated to its destruction.
Kemp said: “Like many other people I’ve grown up with news stories about the
Middle East without really understanding the issues. I hope that the two
documentaries, one in Israel and one in Gaza, will give people a better
understanding of this complex and troubled part of the world.“

Having done such a brilliant job on his other reports I am
sure Ross will present an excellent programme. His ability to ask the people
living in the situation the questions that everyone wants the answers to
makes rivetting television. This is one I will certainly be looking forward
to seeing. JRuing

Help! I
Caught It Abroad
An hour-long ITV1 special, Help! I Caught It Abroad, follows
the work of doctors and nurses at the UK’s only Hospital for Tropical
Diseases as they tackle everything from blood-sucking pests to burrowing
insects and parasitic worms.
With exclusive behind-the-scenes access the film follows Professor Peter
Chiodini and his colleagues as they treat patients, some with near fatal
diseases including malaria, and infestations of bugs living under the skin.
The programme features a woman with a potentially dangerous parasite in her
brain, a couple with fly larvae living in their scalps and a man losing his
sight after being bitten by a sand fly while on holiday in Greece.
Professor Chiodini says: “It’s a very satisfying job because you can sort
people out. They’ve got an acute problem, it’s something that you can
diagnose correctly, fix for them, and then move on to someone with the next
problem.”
The work done at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, which forms part of
University College London Hospitals, is invaluable to doctors across the
country as they battle to diagnose and cure patients who have picked up
worms and parasites which are often invisible to the naked eye.
The programme is aired on Tuesday, November 24.
