Neighbours Invited Jason Donovan Back

Neighbours producers have invited Jason Donovan to join in with the soap's 25th anniversary celebrations next year, the Australian actor revealed.

Donovan, who rose to fame as Scott Robinson in the Aussie soap in the 80s, said work commitments mean he is unable to attend, but said it was "a shame" he can't make it.

He said: "They have asked me to come back and be part of the celebrations - but I can't, I'm working, which is a shame."

He said: "They have offered for me to come back, but time has moved on considerably for me since then. I'm very proud of that show. It's launched incredible careers over the years, and given a lot of work to people in the industry in Melbourne and Australia.

"Every day of my life I refer to it at some point and I'm not someone who runs away from that. I'm very proud of that so long may it last."

Apprentice Delayed

The 2010 series of The Apprentice is being delayed until the summer to avoid a clash with the general election, the BBC confirmed today.

It follows a ruling by the BBC Trust that there would be an increased "risk to impartiality" after Lord Sugar's appointment as Labour's business tsar.

The move will allow the show to run without a break after June 3, the last possible date for the election.

Series six was originally due to run for three months from March.

The change in scheduling may mean that the entrepreneurial contest will be pitted against the final series of Big Brother on Channel 4, which is expected to start at the end of May.

The BBC Trust said in July there was no breach of editorial guidelines with Lord Sugar's dual roles on The Apprentice and as a government advisor, but admitted that extra care would have to be taken with the programme's timing.

Rip Off Britain

Angela Rippon, Jennie Bond and Gloria Hunniford team up to help the nation in its battle against Rip Off Britain, in a new, five-part series for BBC One Daytime, starting on Monday, November 30.

The series investigates the sharp practices by some of the biggest names on the High Street – exposing the hidden costs and the deals that really are too good to be true.

For five consecutive days, the team digs into the facts to show consumers what they need to do to fight back. They tackle a different area each day, including finance and banking, travel, utilities, shopping and housing.

Rip Off Britain also features a new nationwide survey, investigations into how companies don't always give consumers the best deals and information aimed at helping people make informed choices about their finances.

Ofcom Not Investigating X Factor Complaints

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom said it is not investigating some 3,000 complaints to ITV about X Factor hopefuls John and Edward Grimes staying in the contest.

ITV, whose message boards was deluged after Sunday's result, said the show "can divide opinion and provoke comment from our viewers".

The Irish pair survived the sing-off with Lucie Jones after judge Simon Cowell turned to the public result.

Cowell has been criticised for not casting his vote for a second week.

An Ofcom spokesman said that it launches formal investigations into complaints including the treatment of TV show contestants and flaws in voting processes, but not the outcome of programmes.

But the watchdog added that it reviews every complaint that it receives.

X Factor Voting Complaints

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has confirmed it has received complaints following Simon Cowell's decision to let the public decide who was to be voted off the latest episode of The X Factor.

Welsh teenager Lucie Jones was kicked off the talent show after the public chose twins John and Edward Grimes to go through to the next round.

The decision to open up the voting has been criticised in some quarters due to the twins' apparent popularity.

An Ofcom spokeswoman confirmed that complaints had been made but would not confirm how many had been received.

She said: "We will assess the complaints against the Broadcasting Code."

The twins said they have were racked with guilt after knocking Jones out of the show.

The 18-year-old joined the boys, nicknamed "Jedward", in the bottom two in front of the biggest audience the ITV talent show has ever received.

When it was his turn to vote, Cowell said he would prefer to see the boys again rather than Lucie Jones, but left the final decision to viewers as that meant the vote was "deadlocked."
