Moira
Stuart Joins Chris Evans
Moira Stuart is to join BBC Radio 2 to become the main
newsreader on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, which launches next Monday.
Stuart will read the news bulletins during the programme which will run from
07:00 to 09:30, Monday to Friday.
Stuart said: "I'm delighted to be joining The Chris Evans Breakfast Show
team at Radio 2. We'll certainly have some fun."
Chris Evans said: "It doesn't get any better than Moira Stuart. The voice,
the authority, the style, the class, plus a side of her the majority of
people have never seen before. She's funny, she's cheeky and dare I say it –
ever such a little bit naughty. Always brilliant on the telly, I predict
she's going to be even better on the radio. In fact, I know she will be."
Bob Shennan, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, added: "Moira is a much loved
broadcaster and I am thrilled that she is joining Radio 2."
Stuart started her BBC career as a production assistant in Radio's Talks and
Documentaries department in the Seventies, before moving on to become a BBC
Radio 4 announcer and a newsreader and programme presenter.
She moved to TV news in 1981 to become the UK's first female
African-Caribbean newsreader, presenting many BBC News bulletins before
leaving in 2007.
Moira has presented many programmes on radio and TV including Best Of Jazz
on Radio 2, BBC One's The Holiday Programme and Have I Got News For You in
2007.

Filming
Affected By Weather
Filming of Coronation Street has been halted as a result of
the heavy snowfalls.
Poor weather prevented essential crew and cast members from reaching the
studios in central Manchester, and the conditions meant it was not possible
to film outside.
The spokeswoman said it was "very rare" for shooting to be suspended on the
soap.
"It has to be very extreme for us to stop," she added.
Shooting also largely ground to a halt on Leeds-based soap Emmerdale.
A spokeswoman for the ITV1 soap said: "We have three directors working at a
time, and two can't work because they were filming outside. On Tuesday,
ninety-five per cent of cast members didn't make it in."
She said the break in filming was unlikely to have a serious effect on the
programme.
Another soap, Channel 4's Hollyoaks, was also affected by the
conditions.
Only one of the five shoots planned for Tuesday was able to go ahead at the
Lime Pictures studio in Childwall, Liverpool.

Jones
Could Quit Big Brother
Vinnie Jones hinted he could quit Celebrity Big Brother.
The former footballer complained some of his housemates
were “tabloid celebrities” as he showed the strain of being cooped up
yesterday.
Jones is thought to be the highest paid celebrity on this year’s final
Channel 4 show – receiving £350,000 to take part – and bookies have made him
favourite to win.
But the former Wimbledon star's talk began when he was asked what present he
would like for his 45th birthday, which he celebrated in the house.
“A red card straight from here would do me,” he told Jordan’s ex-boyfriend
Dane Bowers.
He also said in the Diary Room: “I don’t fancy doing three weeks. I keep
eyeing up those walls to see how high they are.”
