US Version Of
Only Fools
Steve Carrell wants make a US version of Only Fools and
Horses, he has revealed.
The funnyman – who played Ricky Gervais’ role in the US version of The
Office – said he would love to become a US Del Boy Trotter and the show
could be huge hit on the other side of the Atlantic.
He said: “That is my dream role. The British do sitcoms better than anybody
else in the world. I think with the right scriptwriters and cast we could do
Only Fools and Horses justice.”
While Carrell would like the role of wheeler-dealer Del, he thinks Gervais
would be perfect for the part The Nag’s Head landlord Mike.
He said: “If anybody wants to help me do a remake I’d love it – with Ricky
as Mike the barman.”
He would also wants Paul Rudd as Del’s brother Rodney, Vince Vaughn as Boyce
and Ben Stiller to play Grandad.

Bans Gay Dating Commercial
CBS has rejected a gay
dating site's Super Bowl ad, saying the 30-second clip, which
features two male fans kissing while watching the game, failed to
meet the network's standards.
In a letter to ManCrunch.com, the network said that the clip was "not within
the Network's Broadcast Standards for Super Bowl Sunday." CBS also said its
sales department had difficulty verifying the company's financial
information, but a ManCrunch spokeswoman said the company could afford to
pay for the ad.
"After reviewing the ad — which is entirely commercial in nature — our
Standards and Practices department decided not to accept this particular
spot," CBS said in a statement.
"As always, we are open to working with the client on
alternative submissions."
In the commercial, the men start kissing after both reach into a bowl of
chips at the same time, and their hands touch.
ManCrunch spokeswoman Elissa Buchter said the company was disappointed by
the rejection. Though the debate over the ad has gathered massive attention
for the site, she denied it was a publicity stunt.
"We think it's totally discriminatory that they're accepting other ads that
make social statements, but they're not allowing ours," she said.
CBS aired a Snickers ad during Super Bowl 2007 in which two
men "accidentally" kiss — and then panic. One extols the other, "Quick — do
something manly!" CBS dropped the commercial after receiving complaints that
it was homophobic.

Reader Comment
Two weeks ago, no one (not even the gays) had heard of
ManCrunch. Today, just about everyone has heard of it. Mission accomplished.
