Vernon Kay Will Present His Show
Vernon
Kay will be presenting his Radio 1 show this Saturday - despite reports that
he had pulled out.
According to reports, Kay, 35, had asked if he could miss the show to spend
time with his wife Tess Daly, 38, after he admitted sending racy texts to
other women.
During the live Saturday shows, Kay asks his listeners to send in texts and
it was thought that this could be uncomfortable for the former model.
The TV presenter and DJ has branded himself "stupid" after admitting sending
explicit texts to around five women.

TV Host
Solitary Confinement
TV host and DJ Tim Shaw is to be locked in a steel box no
bigger than a wardrobe for up to a month in a bizarre solitary confinement
challenge.
Tim Shaw will be unaware of the location of his steel box during the
challenge
Shaw, 35, will be on view on the internet 24 hours a day during the stunt,
which will also form a nationwide treasure hunt.
He will have to lie down for up to 30 days and will not be freed from the
steel box until he is found by a member of the public who will then win
£30,000.
Shaw, who has presented Fifth Gear on Five and Channel 4's Extreme Male
Beauty, will have no human contact for the duration of the ordeal.
He is not taking any items into his new home other than his bedding and the
prize money.
He is unaware of his box's location in the UK, other than knowing it is a
spot which has played a "significant" part in his life before.
Shaw will have 12 hours of light each day he stays in the box
During his stay, he will talk about incidents in his life to allow web users
to work out where he might be.
Advertising funding on Shaw's website will raise money for the charity Help
For Heroes.
The married father of two will go into the box on February 15 at midday. He
will have 12 hours of light each day from six bulbs in the box.
"It's like a wardrobe on its front really," Shaw said. "It's three feet
high, eight feet long, only a foot longer than I am lying down, and four
feet wide.
" I don't know what's driving me but I have to do it. There's no other
reason to do it. it's a personal challenge."
Before Shaw goes into the box he will be driven around for ten hours
blindfolded to disorient him, and only two close friends will know his
location.
He will stay in for at least seven days but if at any point after that his
location is guessed, he will be freed. He will stay in for a maximum of 30
days.

Internet TV
Service Pulled
A controversial council-run internet TV service is to be
scrapped to save money.
Kent TV was launched by Kent County Council in September 2007 at a cost of
£1.4 million with the aim of covering a range of topics of interest to
people who live in, work in or visit the county.
The channel, which cost an extra £600,000 each year to run, was criticised
by some as a non-essential service that Kent's residents should not have to
fund as part of their council tax.
The venture, the first of its kind in the country, was run by Bob Geldof's
company, Ten Alps. and will stop broadcasting next month.
Council leader Paul Carter said the authority's spending had to be
prioritised as it faced "different and difficult economic times" compared
with when it was launched.
In a statement, he said: "Kent TV has proved itself to be a brave and bold
innovation and we have learned a great deal from it. It has provided a
source of practical, useful information for residents.
"However, we are living in different and difficult economic times compared
with when the pilot was launched in September 2007. In difficult times our
spending has to be prioritised.
"We have therefore decided that Kent TV will not continue when the pilot
period ends in March 2010."
Roger Gough, Cabinet member for corporate support services and performance
management, said the decision to scrap the channel followed an independent
review.

EastEnders - Tape On Standby
EastEnders producers will record a backup tape to play in
case of a "proper crisis" during the live episode on February 19.
Executive producer Diederick Santer said the tape will only
be played if something goes "seriously wrong" during the broadcast
which marks the soap's 25th anniversary.
Santer said in a magazine interview:: "We'll be filming the
rehearsal, including the various versions of the reveal scene - that way, if
something goes seriously wrong, to which the only alternative is BBC One
going back, we can play the tape."
He added: "But we won't be using it if anyone just fluffs a line or misses a
cue. In those cases, we'll power on using out improvisational skills. It's
really just for technical backup in case of a proper crisis."
The soap's cast received their script for the episode last Friday, but so
far only a handful of people know the identity of Archie Mitchell's killer.
It is thought the actor or actress in question will only find out on the
night of the broadcast itself.
