Saturday Kitchen Rapped
The BBC's Saturday Kitchen Live has been rapped by Ofcom
after a guest chef swore live on-air while cooking an omelette.
Chef Tom Kime swore under his breath during the show broadcast in December.
But the remark went unnoticed by presenter James Martin and the production
team, so no apology was made at the time.
The broadcasting watchdog said the incident breached rules on offensive
language used before the watershed.
It was not until after the show, when another guest was asked about the
swearing, that the BBC became aware of the matter.
The BBC said that at the time, several steps were taken by senior members of
the production team to brief guests about offensive language.
The production team immediately contacted staff at BBC iPlayer and requested
the programme be withheld until an edited version was available.
After the incident, the corporation decided that Mr Kime would not be
returning to the programme and apologised to viewers who contacted it to
complain.
One viewer complained to Ofcom, who noted that Saturday Kitchen was a live
show and the production team acted responsibly by giving repeated reminders
about acceptable behaviour to its participants.
"As a result of the fact that this current example of the use of the most
offensive language was not noted during the live broadcast, Ofcom has
decided to record a breach on this occasion," Ofcom said.

10th anniversary on Friday 26 March.
Set in the fictional Midlands town of Letherbridge, Doctors regularly
attracts up to two million loyal viewers a day, who follow the daily lives
and loves of the staff and their patients at the Mill and Campus surgeries.
Well known for its challenging storylines, a Doctors appointment in this

past 10 years, Stephanie Powers, Eric Sykes, Richard Briers, Honor Blackman,
Brian Blessed, and Johnny Briggs are just some of the guest stars that have
featured in the show.
To mark the occasion, a week-long series of special short documentaries,
Decade Of Doctors, looks back at the last 10 years and gives an insight into
the secrets of the programme's success. Presented by Doctors actress Diane
Keen (who plays Julia Parsons), the series looks back at how Doctors
started; goes behind the scenes; and reviews some of the memorable
storylines and the famous faces that have passed through the doors.
