John Gaunt's Net Show Pulled

Broadcaster Jon Gaunt's internet radio show SunTalk has been pulled.

The station, which is affiliated with The Sun newspaper, started in April and aired every weekday for three hours.

In a message posted in the network's website, it said: "SunTalk is no longer live. Thank you for listening over the last 18 months."

The closure of the station comes days after Gaunt lost a legal bid to challenge Ofcom's decision to uphold complaints against him.

The radio presenter was sacked by Talksport after insulting Redbridge councillor Michael Stark live on air.

The pair had been debating the council's decision to ban smokers from fostering children when Gaunt called Mr Stark a "Nazi", a "health Nazi" and an "ignorant pig".

Although Gaunt apologised, 53 people still complained to Ofcom, which censured the host under its rules on offensive material.

A News International spokesman said: "News International can confirm that SunTalk has closed. This was a business decision taken as part of an ongoing review of costs and strategy to focus on core operations."

Nick Knowles New Quiz Show

TV presenter Nick Knowles has signed up to host a new BBC Two Daytime quiz show, Perfection, where only 100 per cent accuracy can win the jackpot.

The answer is always true or false, with topics ranging from geography and science through to the bizarre. Contestants will have to decide if statements like: Italy is larger by area than the UK; hydrogen makes up 78 per cent of the air we breathe; and elephants can jump, are true or false.

In a final twist, the contestant can negotiate with competitors to join them for a share of the prize. But will they strike an agreement? Every day the stakes get even higher as the money rolls over, giving players another chance to hit the jackpot.

BBC Daytime has also re-commissioned a third series of Pointless, the game show where obscure knowledge is the key to success, hosted by comedian Alexander Armstrong.

Both series have been commissioned by BBC Daytime controller Liam Keelan, who said: "Quizzes remain hugely popular with our audiences, who are always looking for new formats and ways of perfecting their general knowledge. I'm really thrilled to add this innovative new show to our daytime line-up."

Coronation Street Actress To Stay

Actress Sue Nicholls has ruled out retirement saying that she wants to stay on Coronation Street for as long as she can.

The actress plays salon owner Audrey Roberts in the Weatherfield drama.

Nicholls, who turns 70 next week, has admitted that her life away from the Street is more stressful.

She told the TV Times: "When I come through the gates of the studio, it's like coming into a different world.

"I think I'm a bit happier in my Weatherfield world, because I've only got to worry about Audrey.

"In the real world, when I have a free week, oh, I find it terribly exhausting and I can't cope! Ringing the accountant, having a row with BT; you have to do all that."

She added: "I would like to get in the car while I can still drive, and travel through France and Spain - places where I went to in my youth - but that can wait.

"I'm a bit of a romantic but, in reality, it's trips to Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer for me."

Bruce Forsyth

Bruce Forsyth has reportedly decided to cut back his hosting role on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 82-year-old has reached a deal with the BBC not to present the results show.

It is thought the result of the viewer vote for the ballroom dance competition will now be aired on Sundays, but Forsyth would only appear in the main Saturday show.

There was speculation that the comedian would not be returning to host the show he has fronted since it first aired following some changes to the format of the contest.

However, the veteran TV presenter confirmed last week that he was in negotiations with the BBC and said that these "were progressing well".
