New
BBC One Drama From Scotland
Case Histories and Young James are the two latest BBC One
dramas that will be filmed and set in Scotland, announced today by Jay Hunt,
Controller, BBC One, and Ben Stephenson, Controller, Drama Commissioning.
Case Histories is a six-part series adapted from Kate Atkinson's compelling
mysteries. At the heart of these stories is private investigator Jackson
Brodie, who will be played by Jason Isaacs . A complex and compulsive
detective surrounded by death, intrigue and misfortune, his own life haunted
by a family tragedy, he attempts to unravel disparate case histories. The
series will be filmed and set in modern Edinburgh.
Jay Hunt, Controller, BBC One said: "Case Histories is an exciting
opportunity to bring contemporary adaptation to BBC One. I am delighted we
will be bringing Kate Atkinson's books to the screen."
Young James is a 3x60minute drama inspired by the true story of how the
world's most famous vet, "James Herriot", came to learn his trade in
Scotland. Drawing on an archive and exclusive access to the diaries and case
notes he kept during his student days in Glasgow, as well as the biography
written by his son.
Jay Hunt continued: "The chance to bring the story of the real James Herriot
alive for a BBC One audience that grew up with All Creatures Great And Small
was irresistible."
Co-created by Johnny Byrne and Kate Croft, Johnny sadly died two years ago
but it was their shared dream to bring this show to the screen. Filmed and
set in Glasgow.

BBC Launches
2012 Website
The BBC's London 2012 website, the new "home" for all of the
BBC's London 2012 content, will be launched tomorrow to mark two years to go
until the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The 2012 site, bbc.co.uk/2012, will give users a single entry point to a
showcase of BBC content related to London 2012, drawing on news, sport,
programmes from the BBC Archive and more. The site will also contain
prominent links to external content such as information about volunteering
in 2012 and how to buy tickets for the Olympic Games.
Nearer the Games it will be the home of the BBC's Torch Relay coverage
online, building in technical innovation from the BBC's Future Media &
Technology division and external development companies.
The Torch Relay begins in May 2012 and will cover the UK, before reaching
its climax at the Opening Ceremony in London on July 27.
Roger Mosey, the BBC's director of London 2012, said: "Telling the story of
London 2012 from now until the end of the Games is one of the biggest
challenges the BBC has ever undertaken. We want our coverage to bring the
whole of the UK together to enjoy this unprecedented period of events, and
the BBC's website will be the place where people can find out about
everything from the 100 metres final and the latest Olympic News to the

Kylie -
Neighbours Appearance
Kylie Minogue has turned down a return to Neighbours as her
original character Charlene.
The singer - who played mechanic Charlene Robinson in the Australian soap
until 1988, when she left to launch her pop career - will not make a one-off
appearance in the show.
The 42-year-old star was top of show bosses wish list to make a guest
appearance to mark the soap's 6,000th episode later this year.
However, Minogu said she thinks she is too old to play her former character.
She said: "There was a request. I know it's the 25th year of the show but I
don't think I could go back as Charlene. Maybe Charlene's mother!"
She added: "I don't watch it any more. I can see why Aussies would, it's
like a comfort thing.'"

The One Show -
New Girl

Presenter Alex Jones will replace Christine Bleakley on The
One Show, the BBC has announced.
Well-known on Welsh language television, Jones is relatively unknown in the
rest of the UK.
The 32-year-old will share the screen with comedian Jason Manford from
August 16.
Jones said she was "absolutely thrilled to bits" to be joining the show.
She added: "I watch the show at home every night on my sofa and can't
believe I'm now swapping it for The One Show sofa.
"It is the break I have only ever dreamed of and can't believe I'm getting
to work with Jason Manford who I think is just fantastic - it truly is the
icing on the cake."
Manford said: "After meeting so many brilliant presenters Alex just felt
really special.
"She is going to be brill and we can't wait to start the show
together."
The One Show editor Sandy Smith said: "Alex is warm, funny and very
experienced despite being almost unknown outside Wales.
"It feels right for many reasons to be developing someone new at this time
and I hope One Show viewers enjoy seeing her relationship with Jason develop
on screen and take her to their heart."
BBC daytime controller Liam Keelan said: "Her screen test with Jason was
outstanding and from that moment we knew she was the one.
"We are really proud to have Alex on board and look forward to introducing
her to The One show audience.
"She has a lovely sense of humour and she's the perfect fit for Jason
Manford as the show begins its next journey."
