Betty Driver Funeral
Coronation Street stars including Julie Goodyear, William
Roache, Helen Worth and Bill Tarmey have gathered to say a final goodbye to
their late co-star Betty Driver, who played Betty Williams in the ITV1 soap.
Driver, who died last at the age of 91, played Betty Williams
in Coronation Street for 42 years, making her the longest-serving barmaid at
Weatherfield pub the Rovers Return.
Several hundred fans gathered to remember the actress as she was laid to
rest in St Ann's Church in Manchester, with famous faces from the soap
attending the funeral to pay their respects.
Helen Worth, who plays Gail McIntyre in Coronation Street, said: "The Rovers
will not be the same without her.
"How do we say goodbye to her? In the way she wanted us to do with a smile,
remembering her infectious laugh, her perfume which announced her arrival,
her love of life and everyone in it and celebrate with joy the glorious 91
years of Betty Driver."
