Anita Dobson

Former EastEnders actress Anita Dobson said Strictly Come Dancing has taken over her life, but describes the experience as 'a complete revelation'.

The 62-year-old actress confessed she has turned down previous offers to appear on the show, saying she was 'too scared of being judged and making a fool of myself'.

But after deciding to face her fears and take part in the dancing competition, Dobson said the show has proved to be the 'most liberating experience ever'.

She told TV Times: "For me to be on television and not be afraid of making a mistake is freeing. It's made me much more relaxed about everything."

Dobson said her husband, Queen guitarist Brian May, has been 'shocked' at the way the show has taken over her life but is supportive of her commitment to the show.

"I eat, sleep and drink it. It's my life. He said he's never seen me like this," she explained.

"It's true, I don't think anything else has ever brought me such joy. It's a complete revelation."

Dobson has also vowed to continue ballroom dancing after she leaves the show, but says her husband won't be joining her on the dance floor.

She said: "Brian's not a dancer, bless him… He might pick me up and take me out for dinner afterwards but I'm going to have to find myself someone else to dance with, I fear."

Pan Am Drama For BBC Two

BBC Two is to screen the US drama Pan Am, which will fly viewers back to 1963 and the dawn of a glamorous new era of luxury air travel.

The series follows the lives of a group of Pan Am pilots and air hostesses as they take to the skies, crossing the globe in a jet-powered, seductive age, shaped by romance, shifting social values and international espionage.

The series was created by Jack Orman and goes back to a time when air travel was an adventure, flight destinations were exotic ports of call, and your food, blanket and pillow were gratis.

The series premiered in the US on September 25 2011 with over 13 million viewers, the audience has dropped week-by-week and the most recent episode on October 23 was watched by just under six million.
