Keith Chegwin Pulls Out Of Ice Show

Keith Chegwin has pulled out of Dancing on Ice after breaking three ribs and fracturing his shoulder.

The TV presenter was taking part in his first rehearsal for the ITV1 show - which starts in January - but fell and had to be rushed to hospital.

Chegwin, 54, told a newspaper: "Torvill and Dean put a speed gun on me as I skated round. I got up to 15 miles per hour, turned left on the rink and then... bang!

"I couldn't breathe or talk. I had fractured my shoulder and later found out I'd broken three ribs. I am in a film at the moment called 'Kill Keith' and it felt like they were trying to kill me! But Chris was brilliant. He called everything to a halt. He and Jayne were fantastic. I was in awe of them anyway.

"It was like a private session with God. I ended up having four MRI scans and Chris has given me his personal physio."

ITV Wins French Open Tennis Rights

ITV has secured a major new television sports contract with the acquisition of the live broadcast rights to the Roland Garros tennis Grand Slam.

As part of a new three-year deal with the Fédération Française de Tennis (FFT), brokered by MP & Silva, ITV will broadcast extensive live coverage from the Roland Garros tennis Grand Slam throughout the 15-day tournament. ITV4 and ITV.com will broadcast around six hours of live coverage from each day’s play as well as highlights, with four matches, including both the men’s and ladies’ singles finals, also shown live on ITV1.

Niall Sloane, ITV Controller of Sport said: “I’m hugely excited that we have agreed a major new deal to bring the Roland Garros French Open to ITV. The Roland Garros French Open 2012 takes place at Stade Roland Garros in Paris from May 27 to June 10. Rafael Nadal and Li Na are the current men’s and ladies’ champions.
