Lifeline
For Axed X Factor Four
The four acts who were axed by their own mentors have been
given a lifeline to return to the X Factor in the wake of Frankie Cocozza
being dropped.
James Michael, Amelia Lily, 2 Shoes and Jonjo Kerr each have a chance to
rejoin the contest alongside the remaining six finalists on Saturday.
Cocozza was axed from the show yesterday after apparently boasting about
drugs, which programme bosses said broke the rules.
Programme-makers have been locked in discussions today to work out how to go
forward with the series with one less contestant.
Without a replacement, it would have drawn to a conclusion early throwing
plans to battle for the UK Christmas number one into chaos or would have
meant one weekend without a public vote, which could have deterred viewers.
The four X Factor contestants who were dropped in the first live show will
now vie to re-enter the competition. They each exited without facing a
public vote after their own mentors were forced to choose who they should
sacrifice in a surprise twist.
Viewers will now be given their say, with details of the vote due to be
announced tomorrow.
An X Factor spokeswoman said: The four acts have never been in a public
vote so, with Frankie leaving the competition, this is an opportunity for
the public to decide who comes back to the show.

Fern Britton Meets
Fern Britton returns to BBC One at the end of the month with
a new series of Advent interviews in which people who are in the public eye
talk about how their faith has affected their lives.

In this first of four programmes, Britton travels to Dartmoor
in Devon to meet a formidable political brainstormer who retired from the
Commons before the last Election but has not faded from the limelight.
Ann Widdecombe talks candidly to Britton about her Anglican upbringing, her
conversion to Catholicism, views on feminism and on life behind the scenes
of Strictly Come Dancing.
Anton du Beke and Lord Alton of Liverpool are among those who contribute
their own thoughts on the woman who waltzed from Westminster into the
public's affection.

The
New Channel 4 News Weather Map
Channel 4 has unveiled plans for weather news across the
channel following Channel 4 News' appointment of its first ever Weather
Presenter. Liam Dutton, who joins from the BBC

He will be the face of a new weather website, responsible for
blogs, news articles and social media engagement with viewers and users.
As an alternative to the traditional weather map, Channel 4's website
weather graphic will divide the country into 14 blocks, so that viewers and
users can pinpoint their region and get the weather information in a way
that is more intuitive to how users consume information online.
Weather data will be supplied by Meteogroup from one station per regional
block. Users can click into each region for more detailed information and
can choose to search using a town name or postcode. They can select even
greater detail from a list of filters, from wind speed to the chance of rain
or snow, cloud cover and humidity over a five day period. Each block's
colour will correspond to the temperature in that region so that users can
see the weather outlook at a glance.
Liam will join the Channel 4 News team in mid-November, and this new online
service will launch in the following weeks.
Channel 4 News announced the addition of this new role as a way to bring
viewers the ultimate "news you can use" in a way that is distinctive and in
line with the programme's values. As well as presenting the forecast every
weeknight, Liam will also discuss weather news stories in the studio with
the presenting team.

New ITV Deal
For Ant and Dec
Ant and Dec have extended their exclusive ITV contract for a
further two years with a new multimillion-pound deal.
It ensures the duo will continue to host Britain's Got Talent and I'm A
Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, which returns this weekend.
The golden handcuffs deal also paves the way for the return of their
Saturday Night Takeaway series, which has not been screened since 2009. And
they will host Simon Cowell's series 'Red Or Black' if a further series is
commissioned, under the new contract.
It means the Geordie duo will continue with the broadcaster until December
2013.
Their deal has previously been estimated to be worth around £10 million each
over two years. ITV would not comment on the new financial package, but it
is said to be "broadly in line" with their previous contract.
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have had had an exclusive deal with ITV
since 2000, after joining the broadcaster two years earlier to present
Saturday morning shows SM:tv Live and CD:UK.
They have landed 12 National Television Awards, including the most popular
entertainment presenter category for 10 consecutive years.
Peter Fincham, ITV director of television said: "Ant and Dec remain at the
very top of their game as two of the nation's most popular television stars.
"Their ability to connect with our audience is unrivalled and I'm delighted
that we're extending our exclusive partnership with them both for a further
two years."
Ant said: "We are really pleased to sign with ITV for another two years and
continue to make the programmes we love with the channel."
And Dec added: "We always said we would bring back Saturday Night Takeaway,
so we're particularly delighted plans are now in place. We have lots of
fresh and exciting ideas for the brand new series."
