David Suchet Back As Poirot
David Suchet is to star in ITV's final five films based on
Agatha Christie's Belgian sleuth, Poirot.
The actor has played the character for the past 22 years starring in 65
films.
The new films, based on the remaining Poirot novels and short stories which
have yet to be adapted, will begin production next year.
It includes Curtain, which is the detective's last tale and sees him return
to the scene of his first case in a bid to prevent another murder.
Suchet said: "I'm more than delighted to be reprising my role as Poirot.
It's been my life's ambition to bring this amazing canon of works to
completion.
"Poirot is a brilliant, yet profoundly complicated character and I've always
loved playing him.
"He's considerate, with a love of elegance and precision, but he is also so
maddeningly frustrating to play as he's so vain and pedantic! For all his
faults he is one of the greatest listeners in literature. I've been so
fortunate to play him."
The other four films will be Labours of Hercules, Dead Man's Folly, The Big
Four and Elephants Can Remember.
Clocks, the most recent Poirot film to be made, will be broadcast on ITV
this Christmas and features Phil Daniels, Jaime Winstone and Lesley Sharp
among the supporting cast.

I'm A Celebrity -
Freddie Starr Taken To Hospital
Comedian Freddie Starr has been taken to hospital and is
undergoing tests after a challenge on I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of
Here!.
▪
The comic had to be seen by medics and was taken out of the
camp for assessment but is said to be in “good spirits”.
Starr, 68, had already been late arriving in the camp after a paperwork
problem as a result of a heart attack.
It is thought he became ill after taking part in a bushtucker trial called
“greasy spoon”.
A spokesman for the ITV1 show said: “Freddie Starr was taken unwell in the
jungle.
“He was immediately attended to by onsite medics and taken to hospital where
he was assessed by doctors. He will remain in hospital overnight as a
precaution and further tests continue.”
The spokesman added: “Freddie is in great spirits and keeping nursing staff
entertained.”
Starr was chosen by viewers to take part in the trial with former The Only
Way Is Essex star Mark Wright.
Starr was taken ill two hours after taking part in the greasy spoon trial,
which involved tucking in to a selection of creepy crawlies.
He has undergone heart surgery in recent years.

More Miss Marple
ITV today announced the return of actress Julia McKenzie to
her role as Miss Marple.
Three Marple films including Caribbean Mystery have been commissioned from
ITV Studios and Agatha Christie Ltd.
A Caribbean Mystery will be the first film to be shot during the summer of
2012 with two further films Endless Night and The Seven Dials Mystery
produced during the autumn of 2012.
McKenzie said: “It’s a huge privilege for me to play Miss Marple.
“After such a successful career I was content to play guest
roles, but then Marple came along. How could I not play her? I love her
shrewd intelligence, and yet she has a warmth and a sweetness that is so
disarming. I find it stimulating watching how her insights into human nature
can unlock big complex mysteries. I’m delighted to be back,”
Mathew Prichard, Chairman of Agatha Christie Limited and Agatha Christie’s
grandson said: “We look forward to three more Marple films with Julia
McKenzie playing Miss Marple. These three are classic Christie stories and
will be a treat for audiences all over the world.”
