Daybreak
Presenters Axed?
Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley have reportedly been
axed from Daybreak, ITV’s breakfast show.

It is claimed the presenters will leave the sofa “within
weeks” after bosses lost patience with their failure to improve poor
ratings.
They were poached from the BBC last year to launch Daybreak, with ITV
executives hoping their on-screen chemistry would help to challenge BBC One
Breakfast.
However, a year on from their high-profile switch, the pair had not only
failed to boost audience figures for the show, but were attracting fewer
viewers than watched GMTV.
There have been growing concerns among ITV bosses at Daybreak’s ratings,
which have averaged around 700,000 viewers compared to nearly 1.5 million
who watch BBC One Breakfast.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “They ran out of time to turn Daybreak
around."

Johnny
Vaughan Leaves 95.8 Capital
Johnny Vaughan has left the breakfast show on 95.8 Capital
FM.
He presented his last programme yesterday.
The London show will be hosted by Greg Burns and current
co-host Lisa Snowdon until a replacement is announced in the new year.
Vaughan took over the show in 2004 from Chris Tarrant and is the most
listened to commercial radio breakfast show in London, according to audience
figures.
The Guardian reported yesterday: “Vaughan was told this morning by Richard
Park, director of broadcasting, that his two-year contract was not going to
be renewed – so decided he did not want to continue fronting the show while
serving out his notice.”
Richard Park, Global’s Director of Broadcasting said: “Johnny
has done a fantastic job over the years, particularly recently, building the
programme with Lisa Snowdon, into London’s most popular commercial radio
breakfast show. Johnny is a skilled broadcaster on radio and television,”
added Park, “and we thank him for his time with 95.8 Capital FM, while
wishing him every success for the future.”

Attorney
General To Sue Sky
The Attorney General is seeking leave to bring contempt
proceedings against Sky News over the kidnap of British couple Paul and
Rachel Chandler.

Sky is accused of breaching an injunction prohibiting the publication of
details of the welfare of the couple, kidnapped by Somali pirates.
They were kept captive for 13 months before being freed in November 2010.
The media were prevented by injunction from publishing details of the
couple's "health and welfare" prior to release.
Solicitors representing the Chandlers, who lived in Tunbridge Wells, Kent,
at the time of their kidnap, obtained the injunction because of concerns
their lives were being endangered by the media reporting of their capture.
Sky News is alleged to have breached the injunction on the day of their
release and before they left Somalia.
That has led the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve QC, to seek permission at
the High Court on Monday to bring contempt proceedings.
