Sky 1 Comedy
Recommissioned
Sky 1 comedy Spy, starring Darren Boyd, has been commissioned
for a second series.
The second run of the comedy, which also stars Robert Lindsay, will be ten
episodes long, compared with the six ordered for series one. There will also
be a 60-minute Christmas special.
Sky head of comedy Lucy Lumsden said: “I am delighted by the response to
SPY. Finding smart yet accessible pre-watershed comedy for adults and kids
to watch together is a vital part of our story on Sky1. We couldn’t have
asked for a better start and are excited by the plans for the next series.”
Spy is made by Hat Trick Productions. It is created and written by Simeon
Goulden and will air in 2012.
Sky has also announced it has commissioned a second series of This is Jinsy.
The eight-part series, created by Chris Bran and Justin Chubb, will be
broadcast on Sky Atlantic in 2013.
Lumsden said: “I can’t wait to travel back to the wonderful island of Jinsy
for another series of insanely brilliant comedy. Chris and Justin’s creation
is the perfect fit for Sky Atlantic and its wealth of unique story-telling.”
Both commissions are part of Sky’s plans to increase its investment in
original British content by 50% over the next three years. By 2014, Sky
expects to invest £600 million a year in British programmes across its
portfolio of channels.

Family Accepts Matthew Wright's Apology
The family of an alleged murder victim have accepted an
apology from TV presenter Matthew Wright about the police investigation into
his death.
Wright has apologised on air and in a letter to Liam Aitchison's parents
about comments made during a newspaper review on Channel 5's The Wright
Stuff.
Ofcom, which has received about 2,220 complaints, has launched an
investigation into the programme.
Liam's family said they had since spoken with the presenter.
Two men have appeared in court charged with Liam's murder.
The 16-year-old was found dead in a derelict building in the Steinish area
on the outskirts of Stornoway on Lewis earlier this month.
Liam's family have issued a statement through Northern
Constabulary ahead of a memorial service in Stornoway on Tuesday.
They said: "We have spoken with Matthew Wright and have accepted his apology
for comments made regarding Liam's death.
"We would like now to draw a line under the whole Wright Stuff incident and
ask people to focus on the process of justice for Liam."
