Coronation Street Actor
Cleared Of Charges
Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has been cleared of
child sex allegations.
The actor, who has played mechanic Kevin Webster in the soap for 28 years,
was arrested and interviewed after allegations of a sexual assault were made
against him, allegedly having taken place a number of years ago.
But today police confirmed that after their investigation lawyers decided
there was not enough evidence to charge him.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “No further action will be
taken against a 46-year-old male from Hale, arrested on suspicion of an
historic sexual assault.
“A file of evidence was prepared for the Crown Prosecution Service, who
decided there was insufficient evidence to charge.”

Sir
Terry Wogan - Difficult Times
Sir Terry Wogan has revealed how "difficult" he found it
appearing on radio at the height of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
The Limerick-born broadcaster even had a parcel bomb sent to him at
Broadcasting House.
He told Kirsty Young on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs today that his
producer had picked the parcel up without realising what it was.
He said: "The thing was, whoever sent in the bomb with my name on it cannot
have been much of a fan because I was on holiday."
The veteran broadcaster said he had "never apologised" for his nationality.
He said: "What was being done was not being done in my name. It was very
difficult, I was very conscious, for instance, you'd come up a cheery
morning voice after some horrific bomb incident."
Sir Terry, who presented the Radio 2 Breakfast Show for 27 years until he
hung up his headphones in 2009, admitted he missed his old show but said it
was best not to "outstay your welcome".
The star, who currently presents a weekend show on the station, said he
would eventually retire altogether. He said: "I'll fold my tent up silently
and steal away one of these days."

Top Gear
The BBC has confirmed it has received a number of complaints
claiming that last Wednesday's edition of Top Gear was offensive to India.
The one-off programme saw Jeremy Clarkson and his fellow Top
Gear presenters James May and Richard Hammond travel around India in a bid
to promote British cars there.
Some viewers took offence to comments made by the presenting trio as they
implied that India was unhygienic and that Indian food and fashion were
poor.
The BBC said that 23 viewers have so far complained about the show, with
some complaining that the programme was particularly offensive in light of
the recent murder of Indian student Anuj Bidve, who was killed on Boxing Day
while living in Salford.
The episode saw Clarkson and his co-presenters make jokes at
the expense of India's sanitation system and quality of food, with the Top
Gear presenter driving a Jaguar with an inbuilt toilet in it that he claimed
was appropriate because 'everyone gets the trots' in India.
In a statement, the BBC said: "If viewers or religious groups want to
complain, they can complain to the BBC. We won't be responding through the
media."
