Miriam O'Brien
To Leave BBC
Ex-Countryfile presenter Miriam O'Reilly is to leave the BBC
a year after she won an age discrimination case against the corporation.
The presenter won an employment tribunal last January after claiming she had
been dropped from the show unfairly.
She is leaving the BBC one year into a three-year contract.
O'Reilly said she had chosen to move on to "work on other projects"
including her charity, Women's Equality Network.
The presenter recently set up a charity to provide "peer to peer support for
women facing discrimination in the workplace".
After the tribunal, O'Reilly was given a new role on Crimewatch Roadshow
which aired last summer.
The presenter said she "had a rewarding time at the BBC over the last year".
A BBC spokesman said: "We would like to thank Miriam for her work on BBC
television and radio. We wish her well in her new challenges but hope that
there will be opportunities to work together again in the future."

Coronation Street Viewers Complain
Coronation Street viewers have complained about a recent
episode which depicted a child being slapped.
Builder Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies) lashed out at girlfriend Anna
Windass' (Debbie Rush) adopted daughter Faye after she deliberately poisoned
his pet fish, but hundreds of viewers have taken to twitter to voice their
displeasure and Philip Noyes of the NSPCC claims the scenes set a bad
example.
He said: "Parents can obviously be pushed to the limit on occasion but there
are more positive ways of correcting a child's behaviour than smacking them.
It simply sets a bad example and teaches children that violence is a
solution.
"Children tell us it leaves them scared and confused and the NSPCC believes
it simply gives out the wrong message and breaks down the trust between
child and parent."
Meanwhile, viewer comments on twitter included, "Very uncomfortable. Wrong
on so many levels" and "Don't think it should have been shown."

New Reality
Show For ITV2
A new reality show will see six wannabe entertainment writers
battle it out for a job on a magazine.
Commissioned by ITV2, new seven-part The Exclusives will see a group of
aspiring young journalists compete in a whole host of challenges in the hope
of landing a 12-month contract with one of Europe's largest magazine
publishers, Bauer Media.
In addition to being given backstage access to some of the most high-profile
awards ceremonies and parties of the year, the group will be coached in the
art of interviewing, sourcing unique stories and connecting with their
reader.
Mentored and trained by the teams behind the likes of more!, heat, FHM,
Closer, Kerrang! and Empire, the six finalists will have to beat their
rivals and impress a panel of industry experts in the hope of bagging their
dream role.
Angela Jain, director of digital channels and acquisitions for ITV, said:
"Working in the media is an opportunity that many young people would love to
pursue and a peek at what it takes to get that chance on some of the
country's most respected publications feels perfect for ITV2.
"The right candidate will have to demonstrate tenacity, initiative and
creativity in abundance and watching them go through their paces should make
for entertaining television."
Meanwhile, Abby Carvosso, managing director of Bauer Media, hopes the
nationwide search will help to showcase some of the UK's best "raw talent".
She added: "This is a brilliant way to show the kind of raw talent and real
skill you need to have to make it in the media today.
"This show demands total passion, dedication and expertise and the series
will show what it really takes to create the most exciting magazines in the
country. We're on the hunt for a gutsy, fearless and talented individual who
stands out from the crowd."
The Exclusives will be broadcast later this year.

Lord
Lloyd-Webber Moves To ITV
After five years with the BBC, Lord Lloyd-Webber is moving to
ITV1 for a new talent show, it has been announced today.
The series will be a search for the lead of the composer’s new stage musical
Jesus Christ Superstar, due to open at London’s O2 Arena.
The format will be similar to Lloyd Webber’s previous four talent series
with the BBC – which searched for new stars for his musicals The Sound of
Music, Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, Oliver! and The Wizard of Oz.
This new ITV series will be the first to feature a performance at the O2
Arena, rather than in the West End, however.
“It is the public who lead the casting process and they’ve got it absolutely
right four times already. It’s been wonderful to see the careers of so many
of the contestants blossom, so it will be especially fascinating to see who
the public chooses as their Superstar,” said the composer.
The auditions will take place during February and March in London, Dublin,
Belfast, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff with the stage musical veteran
being joined by an as-yet-unknown panel of judges to choose the finalists.
