Shopaholic Hoarders
Channel 4 has commissioned a new series about shopaholic
hoarders whose lives will be transformed by two experts who will clear out
their cluttered houses, turn their possessions into cash and redesign their
homes.
My New Home will feature out-of-control consumers whose quality of life is
being buried under their mounds of excessive, but potentially valuable
possessions.
On hand to help each case will be two experts who make their living out of
clearing and redesigning houses. Dealer of antiques and artefacts, Nick
Allen will sort through the clutter and determine what money can be made
from the collections, giving viewers top tips on how to find the hidden gems
in their homes and maximise their worth.
Meanwhile interior designer, Abigail Ahern will use the money raised, and
her great tricks of the trade, to transform the house in a way that reflects
the character and personality of the hoarders.
From collectors of Dr Who memorabilia and dolls, to hoarders of electronic
gadgetry and antique furniture, the weird and wonderful will be uncovered in
this series.
My New Home was commissioned by Channel 4's Deputy Head of Features Andrew
Jackson.
Jackson said: "After decades of buy, buy, buy I think we're
all a little fed up of the stuff we've amassed so it's time to sell, sell,
sell. This show is the ultimate spring clean of crap & clutter and where's
there's muck, hopefully there's brass. I really hope that week after week
Nick digs out diamonds in the rough to give Abigail all the cash she needs
to give our shopaholic hoarders the makeover they need and the new life they
crave."
The six-part series will air in March.

C5 Cancels Amy
Child's Show
Amy Child's reality TV show on Channel 5, It's All About Amy,
has been cancelled, after one series.
The former star of The Only Way is Essex appeared in her own TV series after
the left the show to appear in Celebrity Big Brother last year. While she
has seen success with her own salon, it appears Channel 5 were less than
enamoured with the ratings for her TV show.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 said they are discussing "other opportunities
on the channel" with Childs.

C4 Gypsy Film
Complaints
Ofcom is assessing complaints about a Channel 4 documentary
about bare-knuckle fighting in the traveller community which has prompted
complaints about animal cruelty and child abuse.

The regulator received 289 complaints about Gypsy Blood, which aired last
week. C4 also received a number of complaints.
A C4 statement said scenes that showed cock-fighting and dogs attacking deer
were included to "accurately reflect the experiences of the film-maker".
Directed by Leo Maguire, Gypsy Blood - part of the True Stories series - was
seen by more than 2m viewers.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "To accurately reflect the experiences of the
film-maker who spent years documenting the culture of two gypsy families,
including hunting and fighting, some scenes were included that viewers may
have found difficult to watch but were justified in context."
"The programme was preceded by on air warnings and appropriately scheduled."
Animal welfare charity, the RSPCA, said they would also be making an
official complaint.
"The RSPCA has now begun an investigation into activities shown in the
programme," a statement said.
"We would urge anyone who shares our concern at the programme's content to
also contact Channel 4 and Ofcom to register their disapproval."
